We are literally living in the future.
Over the past few days I’ve been perseverating over Open AI and DALL-E, which are chat and visual artificial intelligence programs can create text or images from prompts.
What you see in your minds eye and be turned into words and then those words become part of the visual world as an image. As art. What?? We are lucid dreaming; this is the biggest thing since I can’t remember when. This may be the biggest thing in my life so far.
Art is changed forever. Creation is changed forever. And while recently many artists have come out speaking against AI, I am a hobbyist artist that feels differently. AI will allow artists to create like they have never created before. It will make art and expression accessible we’re it’s traditionally been limited to those with significant time or money.
Sometimes in my head I have emotions that I can translate into motifs. An immediate, practical way that I can use DALL-E is to create images for my blog that capture these emotions and for an extremely affordable price. 115 credits cost $15 that’s like a dollar for 10 credits most the time I can make the image I’m trying to well within 10 tries.
Additionally, it’s giving me an incredible selection of images that I can use as templates and inspiration for my own artwork. And the things that I’ve created with DALL-E will never be created in the exact same fashion again. Much like a dream, it’s never exactly the same when you take a second look.
Cameras, scanners, digital tablets disrupted the world. AI will disrupt and expand it to a degree we’ve never seen before.
Don’t even get me started on chat GPT, which I use just used yesterday to help me compose an email when I had the intent in the emotion but not the right words to say.
